Wild Earth Africa - elephant and boy

The day-to-day activities of an actual wildlife conservancy are given the “4-D” treatment in SimEx-Iwerks’ WILD EARTH AFRICA 4-D EXPERIENCE.  Combining the stories of a lion tracker, animal doctor, poachers, game rangers and a young boy, WILD EARTH AFRICA 4-D EXPERIENCE features never-before-seen 3-D footage of Africa's wildest animals including elephants, rhinos, giraffes, buffalos, zebras, cheetahs and lions.  Audiences have the chance to reach out and touch – even smell – these amazing animals, experiencing them like never before.

After a young boy witnesses the shooting of a zebra, he’s shocked to see the “poacher” visiting his classroom.  It turns out he’s actually a veterinarian!  When two strangers are spotted with a gun, security rangers are sent to investigate, prepared to protect the animals at all costs.  Will an endangered animal, such as a black rhino or Grevy’s zebra, be harmed before the poachers are caught?  Concluding the busy day, tourists on safari are awed by a pride of feeding lions found by their veteran Maasai tracker.

WILD EARTH AFRICA 4-D was shot entirely on location at the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya.  WILD EARTH AFRICA 4-D is a co-production of the St. Louis Zoo, North Carolina Zoo and SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment.

Note:  The Adventure Theater is an enjoyable experience for the family and children ages 8-and-older. Children under 8 may enjoy the film but may find it difficult to grasp its concepts. To help determine if your child might enjoy the film, remember that the theater will be dark inside, and the 4D effects are very realisitic--such as animals appearing to leap off the screen into your seat. Other special effects include a back probe, blowing air, strobe lights and leg ticklers. Some other patrons may get excited and yell so sound levels in the theater are loud. We hope this information is helpful as you consider a ticket purchase. If you have additional questions, please ask our Zoo staff at the ticket window or those operating the ride.
