The North Carolina Zoo offers various free and paid educational programs for schools, groups, and individuals aged preschool through adult, featuring our Animal Ambassadors or hands-on activities. The Zoo offers many resources for families and groups inside and outside the park, from exciting overnight camping adventures to our virtual Zoo EDventures web series. The Zoo and our team of educators can be your guides through everyday learning about wildlife and conservation, locally and worldwide.
The warm months are host to many activities for kids of all ages. The Zoo offers day-long or week-long camps for children in grades 1-8. Middle and high schoolers can also enroll in Wild Animal Science Camps, an educational opportunity that simulates the fieldwork conservation scientists undertake in the wild.
Kidzone is a nature play area for families to explore, get wet and muddy, and meet Animal Ambassadors. Open year-round, you can splash in our stream, build a fort, play at the Mud Cafe, traverse the Treetop Trail, and so much more. Kidzone is included with Zoo admission.
The Zoo offers various workshops and training to expand your education of the natural world, as well as how to teach and engage audiences of different ages in environmental education.
Our developmentally appropriate educator resources provide lesson plans and activities for all ages and ability levels while meeting curriculum standards.
