Asheboro, N.C. – Oct. 19, 2021 The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Annual Environmental Sustainability Award recognizes one zoo or aquarium with significant achievement in sustainable practices. 

Asheboro, N.C. – August 18, 2021  - The Zoo's Wildlife Rehabilitation Center is the only one of its kind in U.S. zoos. Speakers include Deputy Director Jeff Michael of N.C. Dept of Natural and Cultural Resources and Chief Veterinarian Dr. Jb Minter.

Asheboro, N.C. -  July 09, 2021 - The North Carolina Zoo is grieving the loss of Tommo, a beloved grizzly bear who lived at the Zoo for 26 years. The 31-year-old bear's quality of life quickly declined to the point that the Zoo's staff made the difficult decision to euthanize him this week.
